You wouldn't drive a car without learning the highway code, - so don't go Sea
Angling before learning the rules.
Its not rocket science, - just a set of size limits that have been set by DEFRA
to guard the future of our fish stocks.
These size limits are always going to be a debatable issue amongst Sea Anglers,
however, regardless of our opinions, the law is the law and must be adhered to
at all times.
Here are the size limits, - write them down or memorise them, but whatever you
do, do not go Sea Angling without them. Besides a hefty fine for getting caught
with undersize fish, breaking the law will only serve to give Sea Anglers a bad
name.
Bass 36cm, Cod 35cm, Haddock 30cm, Whiting 27cm, Pollack 30cm, Coalfish 35cm,
Hake 27cm, Blue Ling 70cm, Plaice 27cm, Sole 24cm, Megrim 20cm, Mackerel 20cm*

Always check for local by-laws, conservation areas and protection orders
regarding these and other species, - and also set yourself voluntary size limits
for any species not covered by this law. (e.g Flounder 25cm, Dab 23cm etc)
